1st International Symposium on Biodiversity Research,
Çanakkale, Turkey, 2–4 May 2019
Biodiversity is the most vital and complex feature of our planet and it must be sustainable and preserved for future generations. Biological resources and diversity are vital to humankind’s economic and social development. With this awareness, the International Symposium on Biodiversity Research is organized by the Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Department of Biology. It is planned that the symposium will encompass a wide range of scientific research. It will bring together leading scientists and academics, institutional and governmental representatives at the local, national and international level and provide an important channel for exchange of information between researchers.
Çanakkale, located the north-west of Turkey, has played such a significant role in world history with its natural splendours, cultural heritage and legends. It is the centre of many civilizations, with a strait that connects Asia and Europe, the island of Bozcaada (Tenedos) and Gökçeada (Imbros), Troy, Assos, Alexandria Troas, Apollo Smintheus, Parion, Gallipoli, and many historical assets and natural beauties. Kazdağı (Mount Ida) with a rich variety of flora and fauna, Turkey's corner of paradise, has been the subject of many myths with its natural beauty.
